MIDI 2.0 is finally in the operating system: what changed in Windows 11 and macOS, and what to do with it
Microsoft has built Windows MIDI Services into Windows 11, adding native MIDI 2.0, shared ports and app-to-app loopback, and macOS can already run Network MIDI 2.0 sessions. The plumbing is there. Most of the musical benefit still waits on DAWs and plugins adopting the new APIs.
